August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and Richmond and Henrico Health Districts are using this time to remind people of the importance of staying up to date on recommended vaccinations.

“Vaccines continue to be one of the best ways to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from some very serious diseases,” said Richmond and Henrico Health Districts Director Elaine Perry. “That’s why it’s so important to stay up to date with all recommended vaccines, regardless of your age. As we enter respiratory virus season this fall, we encourage folks to receive the latest flu and COVID-19 vaccines when they become available. These vaccines are safe, effective, and you can receive both at a single appointment.”

The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts have partnered with Virginia Vaccines for Children and Virginia Vaccines for Adults to offer free immunizations for children and adults who are uninsured or underinsured. Families can search for a VVFC provider near them using rhhd.gov/vfc or for a VVFA provider nearby at rhhd.gov/vfa.

RHHD offers immunization appointments for children and adults at its Cary Street, Henrico East, and Henrico West clinics; call (804) 205-3501 to make an appointment. Bilingual-in-Spanish staff is available at all locations.
