22-year-old Henrico woman dies in West End crash

Henrico Police have identified the woman killed in a crash in the West End Aug. 19 as 22-year-old Retika Haider of Henrico. The crash also sent a boy of elementary school age to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash was reported shortly after 5 p.m. Monday in the 4000 block of Wistar Road. A man driving the BMW in which Haider and the boy were riding lost control, fishtailed and crossed the center line, according to police. The car then was hit by an Audi that was heading east.

Family members who were nearby took Haider and the boy and driver to the hospital, where Haider later died. Police said that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
