Dollar General is spotlighting Hunger Action Month in September by encouraging people to support food banks in its footprint. The company has helped donate more than 460,000 pounds of food to Feeding America partner food banks in Virginia during the first seven months of the year. Locally, it partners with Feed More.

Since 2021, Dollar General has donated more than $4 million and 37 million meals to Feeding America.

“Through these donations, we are proud to help combat hunger and increase access to nutritious foods for residents in need,” said Denine Tort, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. “With approximately 75% of Americans living within five miles of a Dollar General store, we are uniquely positioned to serve communities and make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors. We continue to be grateful for Feeding America’s ongoing partnership as we continue our efforts.”
