A grassroots campaign launched in 2014 to promote LGBTQIA-friendly businesses and events in Richmond has reached its 10-year mark.

OutRVA will celebrate its decade of efforts with a pre-show reception at RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Live at the Altria Theater Sept. 5 at 6:45 p.m.

The event will showcase performances by fan favorites from RuPaul’s Drag Race, along with special guests, meet and greet opportunities, and more. Tickets are approximately $45 to $90 apiece.

OutRVA was created in part by students from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Brandcenter as a way to promote LGBTQIA-friendly businesses and events in the area.

“We’re honored to work alongside the local LGBTQIA+ community over the last 10 years to support the OutRVA campaign,” said Tameka Jefferson, Richmond Region Tourism community relations manager. “Our region’s diversity is a huge asset. It’s something we’re proud of every day.”

The OutRVA campaign was officially launched in September 2014, coinciding with the Richmond Region’s Pride festival. This year, OutRVA is serving as a presenting sponsor of VA Pridefest Sept. 14 at the Bon Secours Training Center in Richmond, a free event that will include entertainment, food, and more than 130 vendors.
