AARP Virginia plans Social Security webinar Sept. 24

Social Security is a cornerstone of retirement security for millions of Americans, but many are not familiar with how the program works or how to maximize their benefits.

With that in mind, AARP Virginia will host a webinar on Tuesday, Sept. 24, to help people understand the implications of claiming Social Security benefits and make informed decisions about their retirement.

The free webinar, titled “Social Security: Understanding Your Benefits,” will provide tools for attendees to reach their retirement goals, including the AARP Social Security Resource Center, AARP Retirement Calculator, and AARP Home Budget Calculator. The webinar also will feature a presentation by Pamela Sams, an AARP Virginia volunteer community ambassador and certified retirement and financial planning counselor, who will conduct retirement and financial planning workshops.

Registration is required for the webinar, which also will be repeated Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Tuesday, Nov. 19, also at 8:20 p.m. both days.
