A one-vehicle crash Sept. 30 on I-95 south in Henrico County resulted in the death of the driver, a 68-year-old man from Chandler, Arizona, according to Virginia State Police.

Robert George Roberts was driving a 2020 black Cadillac XT6 SUV at about 3 a.m. when the vehicle apparently ran off the road about half a mile north of the Parham Road exit, hit a ditch, went airborne and then struck trees on the driver’s side before coming to rest in an upright position. Roberts was taken to VCU Medical Center, where he later died.

Roberts was wearing a seatbelt, police said, adding that speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the crash, which remains under investigation.
