In an effort to bolster tourism and support local businesses, Richmond Region Tourism has announced two new grant programs. The Special Event Grant program and the Hotel Workforce Intern Grant program, both funded by the Tourism Improvement District, aim to attract visitors to the region and support the hospitality industry.

The Special Event Grant program offers up to $5,000 to organizers of new special events, those within their first three years, or newly created events that enhance existing ones. To qualify, events must attract at least 25% of their attendees from outside a 50-mile radius of the Richmond, region with those attendees staying for at least one night. Applications are open now and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are depleted.

The Hotel Workforce Intern Grant program provides $2,000 grants to hotels in the Richmond region to help offset the cost of housing interns during the summer months. The program aims to support talent development and prepare the local hospitality workforce.

“Richmond Region Tourism is focused on increasing visitors to the region while helping to introduce new experiences for the local community with the grants,” RRT officials said in a statement.
