Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A brush fire in Eastern Henrico County resulted in sections of two roads being closed on Monday, June 24 as first responders battled the flames.

Firefighters said high winds, dry conditions, and low humidity contributed to the massive brush fire. All told, 75 acres of farmland were scorched. The flames spread across land bordering Route 5 near Laburnum Avenue.

According to police, New Market Road between S. Laburnum and Hickory avenues, as well as Messer Road between New Market Road and Michael Robinson Way, were both closed as more than 50 firefighters worked to put out the fire.

At about 9 p.m., the roads were reopened and crews cleared the scene.
