    The Henrico County Planning Department will host five listening sessions during the next several weeks to gather community feedback about the county’s next comprehensive plan, dubbed Henrico NEXT, which will shape the future of the county through 2045.

    The meetings are designed to solicit feedback about a series of visions and goals that were crafted by planners and the county’s consultant, using input from residents through a 2021 Residents’ and Recreation and Parks Surveys and the 2022 Community Visioning Exercise. Planners are currently finishing the second phase of the five-phase process while simultaneously working on parts of the third and fourth phases.

    Residents will be asked to share feedback on specific goals and visions as outlined by the county. The feedback will be used to create draft documents that will be reviewed during future public meetings.

    All meetings will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and each will be identical in format, so residents may attend whichever best fits their schedules. The meetings will take place:

    • Monday, July 29 at Fairfield Library, 1401 North Laburnum Avenue;

    • Tuesday, July 30 at Libbie Mill Library, 2100 Libbie Lake East Street;

    • Monday, Aug. 12 at Tuckahoe Area Library, 1901 Starling Drive;

    • Monday, Aug. 19 at Varina Area Library, 1875 New Market Road;

    • Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Twin Hickory Area Library, 5001 Twin Hickory Road.

    Officials are encouraging attendee to bring their smartphones or tablets so they can participate easily in feedback opportunities online, although printed copies of survey questions also will be available. residents to attend one of the sessions in person or virtually via their smartphone or tablet.

    The survey questions posed during the meetings also will be available on the project website beginning July 29.
