Free community testing for COVID-19 continues
For the week ending on Saturday, July 6, confirmed hospital admissions for COVID-19 in Virginia rose 20 percent from the previous week, though new admissions remain low. No deaths associated with COVID-19 were reported statewide during that time frame. COVID-19 wastewater levels in the Greater Richmond area remain, on average, below detection.

GRTC to host block party July 10 to celebrate expanded Henrico service

Henrico dedicates its first Fall Line Trail section
Henrico County officials Tuesday celebrated the completion of a small, but significant, stretch of the Fall Line Trail in Lakeside. During a dedication ceremony in bright sunlight at Spring Park, officials officially cut the ribbon on a 1,400-foot section of the 12-foot-wide trail, which ultimately will connect Ashland to Petersburg along 43 winding miles.

The Henrico County Board of Supervisors will hold its next two meetings Tuesday, July 9, split between a work session at 3:45 p.m. and a public meeting at 6 p.m. The work session in the County Manager’s Conference Room at the Henrico County Government Center will cover updates on the county’s 2045 Comprehensive Plan as well as an update about the Richmond Strikers and a closed session to discuss a proposed real estate acquisition.

VDOT reopens Pemberton Road over I-64
A section of Pemberton Road in Henrico’s West End is now open back to traffic after the Virginia Department of Transportation completed a bridge rehabilitation project. The project started in February 2023 and included the replacement of the road’s bridge deck over I-64, as well as repairs to the rest of the structure. VDOT also made some minor modifications to the roadway approach to extend the lifespan of the bridge.
