According to police, the woman was holding her child while walking on the eastbound shoulder of Nine Mile Road when they were both struck by a driver traveling in the right lane. Police said the driver did not stay at the scene.
Woman, infant struck by vehicle in Varina hit-and-run
Henrico Police say they are continuing their investigation into a hit-and-run crash that happened in the Varina District of the county. According to police, Friday morning at 1:15 a.m. they were called to the 5700 block of Nine Mile Road for a reported vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Once on scene, officers say they found an adult female and an infant who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.
