Woman dies after jumping off Parham Road bridge into I-64 traffic
A woman is dead after jumping off the Parham Road bridge over I-64 into oncoming traffic on I-64 East, according to Henrico Police. It happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday. Police received a number of calls about a woman standing on the bridge, then responded and attempted dialogue with her, but she jumped.
Cornerstone of Varina community’s history is ‘an accomplishment and a testament,’ descendent says
Two historical markers were unveiled to honor a cornerstone of the African American community in Varina that began to take root 10 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Dozens gathered for the unveiling of the county historical markers on St. James Road in Eastern Henrico County on Saturday.
