‘Our thoughts are with the family:’ MCSO ends search for Jeffrey Hoffere at Lehigh Station Trail

HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WROC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has ended the search for Jeffrey Hoffere at Lehigh Station Trail in Henrietta.

Deputies said they were unable to find Hoffere in the swampy area and woods near Lehigh Station Trail and East Henrietta Road. The investigation into his whereabouts will continue.

Deputies were told Hoffere was intoxicated on June 20 — the day he went missing — and planned to sleep it off. They said Hoffere likes to string a hammock between a couple of trees in the wooded area. His car is still there, but Hoffere and his hammock were nowhere to be found.

Deputies are searching in other areas, but it’s unclear what these other areas are. They said E. Henrietta Road was the lead in the investigation.

Hoffere was reported missing on July 7, 2024. last seen near 5000 East Henrietta Road on the morning of June 20. Deputies describe him as standing at 5’7″, weighing 190 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes.

The search was led by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Henrietta Fire Department, the County’s Special Operations Fire Bureau, the DEC Rangers, and others. It is conducted within a half-mile radius of the Lehigh Station Trail Head on East Henrietta Road in a heavily wooded and swamp-like area.

Authorities are still encouraging anyone with information on Hoffere’s disappearance to call 911.
