More than 100 protest fatal police shooting in Utica: More than 100 people took to Utica’s City Hall on Monday to protest the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Nyah Mway. The city’s council met regarding legislation, but protesters came out in support of Mway, who was shot by a Utica police officer during a struggle after a foot chase on Friday night. Police say the boy pointed what officers thought was a gun at them; it turned out to be a pellet gun designed to look like a handgun. Highland Hospital selects providers of the year
Highland Hospital has honored physician Chin-Lin Ching as physician of the year and nurse practitioner Rachel A. James as advanced practice provider (APP) of the year. Ching, associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center, serves as medical director of the palliative care division at Highland Hospital. She recently stepped down as the chairwoman of Highland’s ethics committee after five years of growing the committee. She has been a part of Highland since 2010 and has been a champion for palliative care throughout her career.
Former Rush Henrietta track star qualifies for Olympics
ROCHESTER, NY (WHEC) – ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester native Lanae-Tava Thomas has qualified for the Jamaican track team at the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics.
