Deer collision causes $4,000 in damages
MT. PLEASANT — A Columbus Junction woman collided with a deer in the early hours of July 4 traveling north on Highway 218. At approximately 2:21 a.m. Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single-vehicle collision in the 1700-grid of Highway 218 outside Mt. Pleasant. HCSO reported no injuries after their investigation determined Tina Newton, 29 of Columbus Junction hit a deer with her 2011 Chrysler Town and Country. The collision resulted in $4,000 worth of damages.

Sunday Afternoon Field Fires Separated by Mere Minutes
There were multiple field fires in our area on Sunday afternoon. Just after 2:00pm on Sunday, there was a field fire in the 3300 block of Franklin Avenue in Salem.
