Eastern Iowa woman dies after losing control of her motorcycle
OLDS, Iowa (KCRG) — A Lisbon woman died after losing control of a motorcycle and colliding with a street sign in Henry County,KCRG reports. The Iowa State Patrol said it happened at around 11:30 a.m. on June 8 when 52-year-old Candy Cater was sitting on a motorcycle in the parking lot of the BP gas station on School Avenue in Olds.
Mt. Pleasant Public Library to cut back hours
MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant Public Library Board announced its decision to shorten hours beginning July 1 after a loss of support from Henry County Board of Supervisors. “The bad news update is that the county supervisors let us know that they are cutting their contribution to our budget by about half,” Library Board President Theresa Rose shared with the Mt. Pleasant City Council last Wednesday, June 12.
Texas Man Visited by Unwelcome Guest While Driving
On June 18th, 2024, at 10:14pm, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1700 grid of Highway 218 near 180th Street for a vehicle collision. An investigation determined a 2024 Honda CR-V driven by Navin Chander, 49, of Frisco, Texas, was travelling southbound on Highway 218 near 180th Street, when a deer struck the vehicle. The vehicle sustained disabling damage due to the collision. Airbags did deploy. Estimated damage to the vehicle was $5,000. No injuries reported.
