Rain Piles Up Sunday Night Into Monday Morning
While you may have slept right through it, showers and storms Sunday night into early Monday filled up the ole rain gauge. According to trained weather spotters, 2.5 inches of rain was measured overnight in Princeton. Just shy of 2 inches of rain was reported in La Moille while about an inch and a half was measured in Spring Valley, La Salle, Peru, Utica, Sparland, McNabb and Ottawa. A little less than an inch was picked up in the Starved Rock Media rain gauge in Oglesby.
Man loses everything, including his dog, after fire destroys his Woodford County home
WOODFORD COUNTY (25News Now) - A fire late Monday afternoon destroyed a home in Minonk, killing a dog, but the man who lived there was not home at the time. Minonk Fire Chief Steve Allen said the single-story modular home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived shortly before 5 p.m. The chief said neighbors also heard explosions, probably from oxygen tanks which may have fueled the fire.

The Oglesby Elks will be holding a food event that will in turn help provide food to those who need help. The 17th-annual spaghetti dinner and bake sale is set for next Thursday, August 8, from 4 to 7. It'll take place at the Elks Lodge at 800 East Walnut Street in Oglesby. For $12, you'll enjoy a full meal of spaghetti, salad, and dessert. Rounding out the fun at the Elks Lodge will be music, door prizes, and a 50-50 drawing. Kids 5 and under eat free.
