According to Purcell Animal Shelter, the number of dogs coming from outside city limits has been overwhelming, leading to the shelter prioritizing resources within city limits.

The prairie dog colony is just five feet from a gravel road south of a car wash. A prairie dog chirped loudly. His hole in the ground was not far from State Highway 66. So far, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation has relocated 38 prairie dogs from the Yukon area to a new home in northwest Oklahoma.
