    MANITOWOC – Manitowoc County Fair , one of the area's biggest summer events, opens its gates Aug. 21.

    This year's theme is "Make a Bee Line for the Fair" and daily tickets are $10, which includes parking, unlimited carnival rides and entrance to grandstand entertainment.

    Here's what you can expect.

    Grandstand events

    In addition to the exciting rides, delicious food and interesting exhibits, the grandstand events are a huge draw to the fair. Here's this year's schedule.

    • Wednesday: Fireworks show at 9 p.m., preceded by the national anthem performed by Private Stock Quartet and a performance by the Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
    • Friday: Tractor pull at 7 p.m., provided by Schnell Bros.
    • Saturday: Modified truck and tractor pull at 5 p.m., provided by N.E.W. Motorsports.
    • Sunday: Demo Derby at 1 p.m., provided by Hollywood Motorsports.

    Humane Society benefit in Two Rivers: Two Rivers’ ‘Dog Days of Summer’ drive will collect donations for the Lakeshore Humane Society

    Woman's Day event

    The fourth annual Woman's Day event will be held noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Ice Center. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and the first 100 attendees will receive a free tote bag with free items from the community.

    This year's event will have a focus on educating women on health, beauty, finance and business.

    The event will also feature the announcement of the winner of the Quilt Block Contest. Entries to the contest must have been registered on or before Aug. 5.

    The 2024 winning quilt will be raffled off at next year's Woman's Day event.

    Restaurant gets national attention: Kiel restaurant and its popular menu items, like the Dagger Burger, will soon be featured on a national program

    Parking

    Four areas are reserved for parking during the Manitowoc County Fair. The main parking lot is at the corner of South Rapids Road and Crawford Boulevard, with overflow parking behind Van Horn Automotive. A free bus shuttle service will be available at the overflow parking lot.

    The Expo Drive Parking Lot is north of the Merchants Gate entrance and the West Parking Lot is along Vista Road to the west of the Ice Center. No bus shuttle service is available at these two parking lots.

    The cost of parking in these lots is included in the price of admission to the fair.
