MANITOWOC – While the “Golden Age of Piracy” (approximately 1650 to 1680) is often associated with male adventurers, several women also defied societal norms and found success on the high seas.

The stories of these female “swashbucklers,” “buccaneers” and “corsairs” will be the focus of the next Think & Drink series presentation at Wisconsin Maritime Museum .

“The History of Female Pirates” will be presented by UW Oshkosh history professor Michelle Kuhl at the museum, 75 Maritime Drive, Manitowoc, starting at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3.

Doors and bar open at 6 p.m. and a livestream is also offered, although people must register to attend the livestream at https://tinyurl.com/rhhn5vkp . Admission is free in person and online.

A selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at a limited bar. The evening will spotlight Grog, a classic rum cocktail, as the featured drink.
