The Federal Emergency Management Agency can help Sarasota-Manatee area residents whose vehicles were damage by Tropical Strom Debby , according to an announcement Friday.

A FEMA news release noted that assistance is usually limited to one vehicle and if an owner has another operating vehicle, they must submit a statement indicating an essential need for both vehicles to maintain the household.

The vehicle also must be an owned or leased vehicle, not a rental car.

The damage must have occurred during the disaster.

To find out if you are eligible, you can apply to FEMA in several ways:Go online to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App, visit a Disaster Recovery Center or call 800-621-3362 any day. Multilingual operators are available. If you use a relay service, captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.

I hope so! Such a sad, unfortunate situation. We need infrastructure. Have lived in Florida for 43 years and have never seen such flooding and devastation. My heart goes out to you! 💖
