She found fame on television in ABC's acclaimed prime-time academic comedy Room 222 (1969-1974) and that same network's Saturday morning live-action superhero series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (1976). She's also performed in productions like CBS Schoolbreak Special and The Spike Jones Show. She's been married to Jayson Sher since November 28, 1987, and her name is Judy Strangis. This is her story.

    A Closer Look

Judy Strangis was born on December 23, 1949, in Los Angeles, CA., and began acting at a very young age. She made her screen debut in the 1957 feature film Dragoon Wells Massacre at just 7 years of age. Her brother Sam was a director, producer, and studio executive, and her cousin Greg wrote for TV. Her aunt, Helen Grayco, was a singer, and her sister, Linda (a.k.a. "Cindy Malone") was a singer and actress.

Strangis graduated from University High School in West Los Angeles, and in 1969, was cast as high school student Helen Loomis on Room 222, which originally aired on ABC from September 1969 to January 1974.

Two years later, Strangis played Dyna Girl opposite Diedre Hall in Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (for which her nephew, Greg Strangis, wrote two episodes). The show was one of the first to feature female superheroes as leading characters on a weekly TV basis.

    Beyond 222 and Girl

Beyond her regular roles in Room 222 and Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Judy Strangis also appeared in TV shows like The Twilight Zone, Bewitched, and The Mod Squad, and in TV-movies like All My Darling Daughters and My Darling Daughters' Anniversary.

Strangis is also a voice-over artist who lent her vocal talents to animated shows like The Roman Holidays, and Goldie Gold and Action Jack, among several others.

The multi-talented performer has also served as a TV pitchwoman for Chrysler, and Mattel.

In 2010, she reunited with her Room 222 co-stars (including Michael Constantine, Denise Nichols, and Karen Valentine) for a tribute to that groundbreaking series at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, CA.
