Beyond 'Baywatch': David Charvet Has Found a "Different Meaning" in Life

As a star of TV's syndicated 1990s beachfront adventure drama, Baywatch, he became one of the most famous faces on the planet. That's partly because the series, which also starred David Haselhoff and Pamela Anderson (among others), was at the time the most popular show on the planet. His name is David Charvet, a French-born, charismatic actor and musician who left Hollywood behind. But where is he today?

A Closer Look

From 1992 to 1995, David Charvet portrayed Matt Brody on the syndicated edition of Baywatch, which began as a network series on NBC in 1989.

Charvet's last onscreen role was in the feature film, Prisoners of the Sun, which was released in 2013. He portrayed Doug Adler, an archaeologist hired by an eccentric professor to lead his team on a national expedition to excavate a long lost city beneath an Egyptian pyramid.

Before that, Charvet starred in the TV-movie The Perfect Teacher (2010), and Green Flash (2008).

Beyond Baywatch

After Baywatch, Charvet played Craig Field for two TV seasons on Melrose Place.

Other acting appearances include 1995 TV-movies like Seduced and Betrayed (NBC) and Derby (ABC), and the independent feature film, Meet Prince Charming (1999).

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Charvet released three albums, on which he performed in English and French. For a time, Charvet resided in Europe, where he found solid success with three pop rock albums.

According to one interview, Charvet has never regreting leaving Hollywood. Instead, he chose to leave Tinseltown behind and give his life a reboot to become the "father I wanted to be."

The multi-talented Charvet has two teenage children, daughter Heaven and son Shaya, 14, with former spouse Brooke Burke (they were together from 2011 to 2020). "Before I had my first child I was traveling for five years in 42 countries doing concerts for my music," Charvet once observed. "There’s no way I could do that again. I had to find a different meaning to my life."
