It's been eight years since the tragic death of actor Anton Yelchin, best known as Mr. Anton Chekov in the rebooted Star Trek feature film franchise. He also appeared in The Terminator movie series. The actor, then only 27 years old, was killed when his Cherokee rolled down the slope of his driveway and pinned him between his mailbox and a security fence.

According to a lawsuit filed against the automaker by his parents, Yelchin was "crushed and lingered alive for some time, trapped and suffocating until his death."

    A Closer Look

Anton Yelchin was born on March 11, 1989, in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia. He was the only child of professional figure skaters who relocated to America when he was an infant.

In 2000, Yelchin made his acting debut in the TV medical drama ER and went on to appear in over 10 other shows and movies before his breakout role in the film Alpha Dog (2006).

With a likability and charm that echoed classic Hollywood, Yelchin appeared in a variety of other movies; everything from romantic outings such as Like Crazy, to horror films like Fright Night, to comedies including Charlie Bartlett Green Room.

    Lasting Impression

The Guardian eulogized Anton Yelchin as "A hugely popular and well-liked actor of enormous talent and potential has been snuffed out. What a waste."

Star Trek could eulogies him by mentioning in one of their movies how he was transfered to another ship and describing his heroic death saving many people.
