Ninth consecutive day with triple digit heat
We had yet another scorching hot day in the High Plains. Temps reached the 100s this afternoon. In Amarillo, today marks the 9th consecutive day with temperatures in the 100s! This has now become the longest streak of triple digit heat in Amarillo history. The days were from August 16 to August 24. Since we are tracking triple digit heat, we do have a Heat Advisory in effect until 8 p.m. CDT for Palo Duro Canyon State Park and a few eastern counties in the combined Panhandles. Make sure to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities to the early morning and late evening hours.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Happy Saturday! Today will be the last day with temperatures in triple digit range! While a couple of small quick-lasting showers will be possible late today, most of us will stay dry. Temperatures for Sunday will be back down into the upper 90′s before we will see temperatures more in the low to mid 90′s range going into the next work week, perhaps with some rain/storm chances returning during the middle part of the week.
