Community funds look to help local businesses, residents rebuild in Rome
As the city of Rome continues to recover following the E-F2 tornado that tore through the town last week, local officials are starting to think about rebuilding. Rome Mayor Jeff Lanigan continues to praise the recovery efforts across the city. He said all but two roadways have been restored in less than a week, and the community resiliency has been something to watch. For Lanigan, the next steps are to help as many people as possible as they rebuild their homes and businesses.

ROME — The city of Rome has released guidelines on how to remove green waste and structural debris in the wake of last week's tornado. City, county and state public works employees have cleared the streets in Rome and have begun removing green waste from curbs and sidewalks, officials said. The process is expected to take several weeks to complete. City officials are asking for the public's patience and cooperation to see it done.

A Mexican restaurant chain based in Ohio has opened a location in the former Kirby’s space in Westvale Plaza. Plaza Grande Cocina Mexicana & Cantina opened in the past few days. 4 Hospitalized, Horse Killed in Horse and Buggy Accident in Deerfield
A serious accident involving a Ford Focus and a horse and buggy have left four people hospitalized and a horse dead. Oneida County Sheriff's deputies were first called to the scene of a serious accident just after 7:30 p.m. Monday. The accident occurred on State Route 12 North between the Glass Factory Road entrance ramp and State Route 8 exit, according to Sheriff Rob Maciol.
