HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) — The Mercer County Food Bank hosted Stuff the Truck on Saturday afternoon.

It helped those in the community facing food insecurity. The food bank’s truck was parked outside of D’Onofrio’s Food Center in Hermitage collecting non-perishable food donations.

The event ended at 3 p.m., but Development Director Alexis Spence-Locke told First News donations can be made anytime to help people facing hunger in Mercer County.

“Honestly, we’re always collecting food. We’re always collecting funds because hunger never takes a day off. I think it’s always important to mention that for every $1 the food bank receives, we’re able to provide four meals, and right now in Mercer County, we have over 15,000 food-insecure neighbors,” she said.

The most needed food items are canned proteins, vegetables, fruits, peanut butter, cereal and pasta.
