Canova and PBR advance to State Quarterfinals
The Canova Gang and Dell Rapids PBR both moved on to the quarterfinals of the Class B State Amateur Baseball tournament, after posting 2nd round wins on Tuesday night. Canova cruised through the first 8 innings of their matchup with Kimball/White Lake. The Gang took a 9-1 lead in the bottom of the 9th inning, but the Nationals scored 5 runs in the 9th. Jonny Lyons hit a grand slam to pull the Nationals within three runs, and the tying run came to the plate with two outs before Carter Lenz struck out to give Canova a 9-6 win.
Brookings hosting Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event on Saturday
Residents of Brookings, Brookings County and several nearby counties will have the opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste at a free event on Saturday. The City of Brookings Regional Landfill will host the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the Dacotah Bank Center parking lot. The event is open to residents in Brookings, Deuel, Hamlin, Kingsbury, Lake and Moody counties, all of which are in the landfill’s service area.
