Hernando County Sheriff's Office conducts manhunt after suspect evades deputies
SPRING HILL, Fla. - The Hernando County Sheriff's Office was searching Tuesday morning for a wanted man they say is violent after he ran from deputies. According to HCSO, Michael Humphrey, 35, was wanted for battery and ran from authorities. Deputies were in the area of County Line Road between Fargo Court and Clearwater Drive in Spring Hill on Tuesday morning to search for Humphrey.
Brooksville Fire Destroys Two-Story Home
Brooksville, FL - June 30, 2024 - Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews battled a two-story house fire on the 200 block of Lark Ave in Brooksville late Sunday night. Shortly after 10:30 pm, HCFR received reports of a residence engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved structure with significant structural collapse already underway.

City Council Approves Wastewater Limitations
As both Brooksville and Hernando County await the completion of a sewer interconnect, the city council voted on June 17 to establish a wastewater allocation management system. This was the next step in a continuing effort to deal with wastewater capacity issues at the William S. Smith Water Reclamation Facility. Along with the interconnect, there is also a $20 million expansion of the facility that needs to be completed.
