Driver of stolen 4Runner arrested after I-55 pursuit

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is in custody after he allegedly took police on a chase up Interstate 55 in Mississippi in a stolen vehicle.

Saturday just before 9 a.m., DeSoto County deputies say they responded to a stolen Toyota 4Runner on I-55.

According to reports, the vehicle was spotted and the deputies coordinated with a Hernando Police unit to initiate a felony traffic stop.

The driver of the 4Runner refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

Hernando Police was primary in the pursuit and the two deputies were secondary. Control of the pursuit was given to the deputies because the vehicle was traveling north on I-55.

Reports say deputies used tactical vehicle intervention, executing three TVIs to stop the car.

The driver, Thony Coleman, was taken into custody while in possession of a firearm and narcotics. He was charged with multiple offenses.
