LAUREL — Sometimes, you've got to do what you've got to do to hone your craft. For Stevensville native Cory Bedell, who said that while at home he's a 30-minute drive from the nearest driving range, that meant installing a simulator in his garage recently to work on his swing anytime year-round.
NEW MAP: Miller Peak Fire grows to 2,581 acres, 25% contained
MISSOULA, Mont. — The Miller Peak Fire burning seven miles southeast of Missoula was estimated to be 2,581 acres as of Monday and is now 25% contained. "Small areas of growth with intense and scattered fire were detected along the eastern and northwestern portions of the perimeter," mappers noted. "Small areas of intense fire were detected within the northern and and eastern portions of the perimeter. Large areas of scattered fire were detected throughout the perimeter. A moderate number of isolated fires were detected within the perimeter."
Missoula Police Defuse Dramatic Knife Altercation at Gas Station
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 16, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a gas station in the 1500 block of Toole Ave. Officers were informed that a 911 caller had reported that a male had pulled a knife on another person. The 911 caller further reported that the two individuals began fighting again and that one had a stick.
Missoula Police Bust Habitual Traffic Offender for a 6th DUI
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 13, 2024, at approximately 3:35 PM, a Missoula Police Department officer located a suspected impaired driving vehicle that was reported to 911. He initiated his emergency lights and the vehicle yielded in the mall parking lot near Dillards. The officer approached the vehicle and observed two occupants inside. The female in the driver's seat would be positively identified by Montana Driver's License as 48-year-old Candice Hanks.

A new grocery tenant has been announced as the anchor for an upcoming mixed-use development near Bozeman, Mont. Rosauers Supermarkets has signed a long-term lease at the new Jackrabbit Crossing development in Belgrade, located within Montana’s Gallatin Valley. The 196-acre, master-planned, mixed-use project is being developed by Venture West Development as a “true live/work/shop community.”

The defending conference champion Montana Grizzlies have been tabbed as the favorite by both the coaches and the media. The Griz won each poll by a wide-margin and received all but two first-place votes in the coaches poll, and Montana State is predicted to finish second in the conference in both polls.

True Crime Montana Style! UM Launches New Criminology Degree
The bad guys have one more thing to really worry about now that the Griz are on the case!. Okay, way overdid that one. Still, UM News Service tells us that judging by the amount of interested applicants already, it appears a new degree is taking the campus by storm. Faculty modernized the curriculum and built criminology into a stand-alone Bachelor of Arts degree.
