Grass fire started near Pointe West Apartments
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Just after noon, July 25, Rapid City Fire Department received a call about a grass fire behind the Pointe West apartment complex. When firefighters got to the scene, about a half acre of brush was on fire with a flame height of about two feet. Firefighters were able to put the fire out before it could get out of control.
College of Fine Arts Announces 2024 Hall of Fame Recipients
The College of Fine Arts 2024 Hall of Fame recipients include the following. “I deeply appreciate the accomplishments of this year’s class,” said Bruce Kelley, Ph.D., dean of the College of Fine Arts. “They exemplify those characteristics that are the foundation of a Fine Arts education at USD: hard work, persistence and creative excellence. Anderson Plaza Summer Performance Series wraps up with smooth jazz
Tuesday, July 30, marks the last concert of the South Dakota Art Museum 2024 Anderson Plaza Summer Performance Series. Everyone is invited to hear Gene McGowan and Friends performing straight-ahead jazz on Anderson Plaza behind the South Dakota Art Museum, from 6-7:30 p.m. In case of rain, the concert moves inside to the museum’s auditorium.
Those dam beavers: Rapid City's struggle with the voracious mammals
RAPID CITY, S.D. - Rapid City Parks is getting a little help limiting the damage along the creek caused by beavers. The Parks Division says beavers play an important role in Rapid Creek's watershed. However, with the number of beavers increasing, so too has the damage to trees along the creek's banks. To help limit the damage, volunteers will be helping sand-paint some of the trees.

Red River State Bank Files Lawsuit Over Alleged Loan Defaults for Apartments in Watertown
{KXLG – Watertown, SD} According to court documents a lawsuit filed with the Third Judicial Circuit Court in Codington County, Red River State Bank (RRSB), based in Minnesota, is suing multiple parties over alleged loan defaults. The defendants in the complaint include Generations on 1st, LLC, Craig Holdings, LLC, Watertown Development Company, Mulinda Craig, Jesse Craig, and Codington County.
