    Margaret White "Peggy" Dudley, 93, of Hertford, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Born in Perquimans County on December 30, 1930, Peggy was the daughter of the late Jacob L. and Artemesia Towe White and the widow of Bill Dudley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary W. Overton, four brothers, Jake, Joe, Charles, and Frank, and by two nieces. Surviving is her brother, Ralph White of Hampton, VA and thirteen nieces and nephews. A graduate of Perquimans High School and East Carolina University, Peggy was a retired teacher having taught for a total of 40 years. Hertford Baptist Church, where Peggy was an active member for many years, was an important part of her life. Over the years she enjoyed participating in numerous activities of the church. She participated in activities at the Perquimans County Senior Center, volunteered for many years as a docent at the Newbold-White House, and assisted with Meals on Wheels. She was happiest when helping others and was a caregiver for her parents for many years. Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery and will be conducted by The Rev. Dario Ruvarac. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their visits, calls, gifts, cards, and other acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Hertford Baptist Church, PO Box 34, Hertford, NC 27944.
