Law enforcement officials were involved in a high-speed pursuit of three officer-involved shooting suspects, which began in Los Angeles, wove up the Cajon and ended along Interstate 15 in Hesperia.

The shooting happened just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday on 66th Street, west of Flower Street, Los Angeles Police Department officials reported.

Police officials said an unidentified armed suspect approached an unmarked police unit that was parked in the area.

At that time, an on-duty plainclothes vice sergeant shot the suspect, who was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died. No officers were injured in the shooting, CBS reported

After the incident, Los Angeles Police and the California Highway Patrol pursued three suspects connected with the shooting who fled in a silver Cadillac, authorities said.

During the pursuit, the vehicle exceeded 100 mph as it passed through San Gabriel Valley neighborhoods, east toward Ontario, and along northbound I-15 through the Cajon Pass, according to law enforcement.

Police said an officer was injured when his vehicle crashed near the northbound 110 Freeway at the 51st Street exit earlier in the chase. The officer was being treated at a hospital, Fox11 reported.

The suspects were eventually arrested near I-15 south of Oak Hill Road in Hesperia, Fox11 reported.

The investigation along I-15 led to a Sig Alert, which resulted in traffic coming to a standstill for nearly three hours.

No further details on the suspect who died or those arrested were released.
