    Woman fatally struck by car in Hesperia

    A woman died after she was struck by a car at a Hesperia intersection early Monday, authorities said.

    Roberta Araiza, 35, was killed in the 5:23 a.m. collision at Main Street and Maple Avenue, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department representatives and coroner's records. Her city of residence was not listed.

    "The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation," according to sheriff's department spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. The involved vehicle was a 2023 Kia Forte.

    Paramedics pronounced Araiza dead at the scene.

    No further details regarding the circumstances of the collision were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.

    Another pedestrian died in a collision at the same intersection just over two months ago.

    A man was struck and killed by a pickup truck traveling west on Main Street about 11:20 p.m. on May 13, sheriff's department spokeswoman Amanda Paslak said at the time. The man was crossing the street against a red light at the time of the collision, and the truck had a green light.
