Hesperia man, 22, killed in crash between motorcycle and pickup truck

A collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle in a residential neighborhood on Tuesday evening left a 22-year-old Hesperia man dead, authorities said.

Anthony Rodriguez died following the crash, which took place about 7:15 p.m. at Sycamore Street and Maple Avenue in Hesperia, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials and coroner's records.

He was riding north on Maple Avenue as a pickup truck was attempting to make a left turn from Sycamore Street onto Maple Avenue, according to sheriff's department spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. The vehicles collided in the intersection.

Paramedics took Rodriguez to a hospital with major injuries, she said. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Officials said the driver of the pickup truck did not require medical care.

A fundraiser established by family members on GoFundMe.com to help with funeral expenses garnered more than $15,000 in donation in less than a day as community members rallied behind the victim's family.
