A thunderstorm in Hidden Valley on Sunday afternoon brought flash flooding to the area, leading to one family being displaced and the closure of Hidden Valley Regional Park.

Over 100 homes were affected in the area adjacent to Hidden Valley Country Club, Washoe County said in a Monday post on X.

The National Weather Service in Reno said an estimated 1.4 inches to 2 inches fell during the roughly 90-minute storm.

Meteorologist Chris Johnson said floodwaters started adjacent to a steep canyon area along Loma Vista Drive in Hidden Valley.

According to Reno NWS, more thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon with a potential for localized flash flooding.

    Hidden Valley storm damage

Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue said on X that one family is being assisted by the Red Cross after being displaced due to flooding.

Washoe County is advising people to avoid the area of Hidden Valley Drive just east of the country club to Hidden Valley Regional Park and along Hidden Valley Drive to just north of Sleepy Hollow and Blue Hills drives due to crews cleaning up.

The county said the regional park is closed until further notice with entrances at Parkway Drive and Mia Vista Drive affected.

Johnson said NWS has a hydrologist out this afternoon assessing the damage in the area.
