Atrium Health earns Joint Commission gold seal for spine surgery
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health Pineville recently earned the Joint Commission's gold seal of approval for advanced certification in spine surgery. Twenty-three hospitals in the U.S. currently hold this designation, three of which are under Atrium Health's network, according to a July 18 news release. The Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center was recertified in 2023, while Atrium Health Cabarrus received its certification in 2022.

Sheriff's office warns of phone scam targeting Cumberland County residents
The Sheriff's Office is warning the public of a phone scam targeting Cumberland County residents. The sheriff's office said citizens are receiving phone calls from callers impersonating law enforcement officers claiming to be Sergeant Hamlett. The caller says they have legal papers and must call back immediately. When calling the number back the impersonator has the voicemail set up to reflect the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The number calling citizens is 910-479-5277.
First Meeting held in the renovated Catawba Space at the Hickory Metro Convention Center
It’s official, the first meeting took place in part of the renovated Catawba meeting rooms at the Hickory Metro Convention Center on July 17, 2024. About 100 local officials and business leaders attended the Economic Development Corporation of Catawba County Annual Meeting in this newly renovated and fresh space. The renovation includes lower ceilings, new carpet, and paint, new lighting and audio, along with a chic color scheme and design.
