Carthage Man Arrested For Possession of Sexual Exploitation Material
The Moore County Sheriff's Office arrested a Carthage man after an undercover investigation found him in possession of child sexual abuse material. Robert Lee Thomas, 45, of Heritage Farm Road, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with 30 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and 30 counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Southern Pines native Jason Coleman has been named the U.S. Department of State’s chief budget director for the bureaus of Near Eastern Affairs and South-Central Asia. In his new role, Coleman is responsible for over $2 billion allocated to the operations of 29 embassies, 14 consulates, 18 domestic offices and other critical American interests abroad.
World Golf Hall of Fame
The World Golf Hall of Fame has returned to its original home in Pinehurst, NC. The facility opened just prior to the 2024 U.S. Open at the new Golf House Pinehurst campus adjacent to Pinehurst Country Club. The first floor of the building houses the USGA Experience which includes artifacts from the USGA Museum and Library. On the second floor is the WGHOF where visitors will find a new Hall of Fame locker room experience. Each locker representing all inductees maintains a collection of gear and artifacts that assists in telling that player’s story and rich history. Here, you will see Bob Jones’ Spalding 2-wood. Jack Nicklaus’ MacGregor golf bag from the 1965 Masters and Johnny Miller’s clubs, ball and champions golf medal from the 1973 U.S. Open at Oakmont. And so much more.

Lightning strike at Sanford Golf Course puts nearly half the carts out of commission
SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — Nearly half of the golf carts at Sanford Municipal Golf Course are temporarily out of commission due to a lightning event Sunday evening. According to the city, the course is currently operating with 26 of its 51 golf carts. As a result, those with late-morning tee times will likely not have access to a cart.
Robbins Hardware is open for business
After years of anticipation for Robbins Hardware, the wait is over. Robbins Hardware opened in June after seven years of construction. When brothers and owners Darrell Lee Upchurch and Johnny Upchurch began this adventure, the building at 111 Salisbury Street was condemned. “The entire building had to be gutted,” said Darell.
