TRIAD — A Greensboro company that owns 19 restaurants in North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee nearly always refuses to hire men as servers, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleges in a new lawsuit.

According to the lawsuit, Battleground Restaurants Inc. and Battleground Restaurant Group Inc., which operate Kickback Jack’s restaurants, had and continues to have a practice of intentionally failing to hire men for front-of-house positions. From Dec. 1, 2019, to Feb. 18, 2022, the companies employed more than 2,100 people in non-managerial, front-of-house server positions at 19 Kickback Jack’s restaurants, and only 3% were men.
