    City jobless rate turns back down

    HIGH POINT — The city’s unemployment rate made a welcome turn in August after increasing through much of the spring and summer.

    The jobless rate dropped from 5.6% in July to 5.3% in August, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday. The city’s unemployment level had increased each month dating back to April, when the jobless level was 4.2%.
