HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A driver has been charged after a crash involving an ambulance in the Triad.

Police say that on Tuesday night, a driver ran a red light, hitting a Piedmont Triad Ambulance Rescue vehicle at the intersection of Westchester Drive and North Main Street.

It’s unclear if there was a patient in the ambulance, but police say no one was seriously hurt. They suspected the driver who hit the ambulance was intoxicated, but they reportedly refused a field sobriety test.

They were taken to the hospital and cited for a DWI after a blood draw.
