CHAMBERSBURG BOROUGH MAYOR AUTHORIZES BURN BAN
Please be advised that Mayor Kenneth Hock, at the recommendation of Dustin Ulrich, Fire Chief and EMS Director, authorized a burn ban in the Borough of Chambersburg, effective Wednesday, June 26, 2024, through Monday, July 22, 2024. The Mayor declared the burn ban because of drier than normal temperatures, with no significant rainfall being forecast. On Monday, July 22, 2024, Town Council may by Resolution extend the burn ban.
Franklin County borough mayor enacts burn ban for next 3 weeks
A burn ban is in effect for Chambersburg until late July, according to a release from Mayor Kenneth Hock and the Chambersburg Police Department. The burn ban, which is in effect until July 22, came at the recommendation of Chambersburg fire chief and EMS director Dustin Ulrich due to “drier than normal temperatures” and a lack of rain in the forecast, the police report said.

SHEPHERDSTOWN — The hot summer sun didn’t stop the crowds who came to watch the Independence Day Parade put together by the Shepherdstown Rotary Club. After the parade, visitors were invited to Morgans Grove Park where the Rotary Club had their annual Independence Day picnic following the parade. Since 2007 the Rotary Club has planned this parade and picnic to bring the community together and create a sense of pride for the town.

Shepherdstown shop donations to PVAS top $5,950
Shepherdstown's On the Wings of Dreams shop has once again donated a portion of its annual sales proceeds to the Potomac Valley Audubon Society. This is the 17th year the shop owner, Laura Rau, has set aside three cents from each crystal and mineral sold during the year to donate to the Society.

Water tower emptied, water issues in Hanover area as crews work to repair water main break
A break in a 12-inch water main in Conewago Township led many Hanover and McSherrystown residents to awake on the Fourth of July with water issues. Hanover Borough Water Department personnel were notified around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th, of a break in a major water line that runs along West Elm Avenue in Conewago township, said Hanover Borough Water Department Distribution Supervisor Dale Ault.

Simmons Tracy Lynn Simmons, 57, born on March 3, 1967 at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney MD; known to many as 'Black Sheep' of Hedgesville, passed away peacefully at Berkeley Springs Care Center on June 27, 2024. Raised by his grandparents Paul R. Simmons Sr. And Mary Frances; preceded in death by Paul. R Simmons Jr. his father. He leaves behind his son, Reginald Lee Lynn Simmons (26) of Hedgesville, Emmy Fitzwater-Falcon (26) of Bunker Hill who he considered his daughter and his girlfriend Kristy Ferguson of 11 years, of Hedgesville, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends he considered family. He was a hard working kind, caring and compassionate man who will be missed by many. This is a see you later because we know it is not goodbye. There will be no services at this time.
Highwire Improv on the Sky Stage
Highwire will be hosting Improv the first Friday of every month, through October, bringing a variety of improv offerings and troupes. Beer/wine available for 21+ with ID. Sky Stage is an all-ages venue, but improv performances may contain mature topics and impromptu language that may not be appropriate for those under 18. Use your own discretion.
