Dale Clifford Wood, 87, of Madrid
MADRID, New York (WWNY) - Dale Clifford Wood, 87, of Littlestown, PA passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Gettysburg Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Dale was born December 10, 1936 in Lisbon, New York. Dale was the son of the late Clifford & Beaulah (Lalone) Wood. He was the husband of late wife, Phyllis Elizabeth Wood. They were married for 50 years. Dale graduated from Lisbon Central High School in New York and was known to be an excellent basketball player. Following high school, Dale enlisted in the Navy wherein he was stationed at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Following the Navy, Dale worked as a Computer Analyst for NSA in Ft. Meade for 36 years before retiring. Surviving were his two sons, Joshua Wood of Woodbine, Maryland & Timothy Crosbie of Westminster, Maryland; (Joshua had since passed away the same day in the afternoon.) Dale is survived by his six grandchildren, Jennifer Wood, Christina Morgan, Nathan Crosbie, Sheri Mandella, Holly Wood & Joshua Wood and his 10 great grandchildren. Dale was predeceased by his son Steven Crosbie, infant daughter Jennifer Lynn Wood, sister Pauline Delair & brother Bruce Wood. Dale was loved and admired by many. Dale enjoyed antiquing with his late wife and had a passion for collecting beer steins. Dale also really enjoyed traveling all over the United States with his late wife to see US Figure Skating Championships. A Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 25, from 5:00 P.M.to 7:00 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown. There will also be another Viewing on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid, New York. A Graveside Service will follow at the Madrid Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials in Dale’s name may be sent to Adams County SPCA; 11 Goldenville Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
