Dayton woman sentenced in Highland County meth trafficking case
A Dayton woman indicted by a Highland County grand jury on six counts earlier this year was sentenced recently to two years in prison. Allison Trader, 33, was indicted in February and charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; one count of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; two counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, both fourth-degree felonies; and two counts of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both fourth-degree felonies.
Hillsboro man sentenced in 2 drug cases
A Hillsboro man was sentenced to prison recently on charges in two separate drug cases. Kyle Hollon, 31, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in May 2024 and charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school zone, both second-degree felonies; and two counts of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, both third-degree felonies.
Highland County Firefighters Association hosts 2024 Festival of the Bells parade
The Highland County Firefighters Association hosted the 2024 Festival of the Bells parade Saturday, July 6 in uptown Hillsboro. The theme of this year’s parade was “Small Town American Dream,” with numerous fire and life squad vehicles among those participating, as well as the Festival of the Bells committee and queens court.
Hillsboro woman sentenced to prison for trafficking meth
A Hillsboro woman arrested in May as part of a Highland County Task Force drug investigation was sentenced last week to two and a half years in prison. Karissa Runyon, 30, was among 15 individuals arrested Wednesday, May 9, one day after the Highland County grand jury session. Fifteen indictments handed down in May were the result of ongoing work of the Highland County Task Force and local county law enforcement partners to stop drug trafficking in the area.
Record-setting car show held at 2024 Festival of the Bells
A record-setting car show was held on a beautiful, sunny Saturday afternoon at the Festival of the Bells. Cars stretched across the neighboring Scott House parking lot and its entire property. Hillsboro man sentenced on meth trafficking charges
A Hillsboro man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison recently after pleading guilty to two drug trafficking charges. Roy Sluss, 54, was indicted in May on three counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, one second-degree and two fourth-degree felonies; and three counts of aggravated possession of methamphetamine, one third-degree and two fifth-degree felonies.
Hillsboro man is indicted for manslaughter
A Hillsboro man indicted on multiple counts of involuntary manslaughter, among other counts, was among six people indicted Tuesday by a Highland County grand jury. John Powell, 55, was indicted on two counts of involuntary manslaughter, both first-degree felonies; one count of corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony; one count of endangering children, a third-degree felony; and one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.
Hillsboro man sentenced in 3 different drug cases
A Hillsboro man indicted in connection with Highland County Task Force drug investigations, as well as an unrelated incident, was sentenced recently to prison. Travis Blevins, 41, was arrested in May as part of a Highland County Task Force drug roundup. He was indicted May 7 on one count each of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a second-degree felony; aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a fifth-degree felony.
