Potential tax increase in Trussville to fund new school facilities amid growing population
Residents in Trussville will vote on whether or not they want to see an increase in their property taxes on August 27. The millage rate would increase from 62.1, to the max the state allows at 75. The 12.9 increase would go towards three projects for Trussville City Schools. Mayor Buddy Choat said the additional tax would generate $5 million annually. Currently, more than 30 mills of the property tax goes towards schools.
