Plainfield Police Encourage Residents to Lock Car Doors, Keep Items Out of View
PLAINFIELD, NJ — Starting Tuesday last week, the Plainfield Police Department began to encourage Plainfield residents to lock their cars and hide items from view. Camden County Boy Scouts heading home from St. Croix due to global tech outage canceling flight
STRATFORD, N.J. (CBS) — A group of Boy Scouts from Camden County is on the way home Saturday after being stranded in Saint Croix.Troop 122 landed in the Virgin Islands on July 12. The children, who range in age from 11 to 17, spent the last week earning merit badges and practicing lifesaving skills while staying at a 17-acre seafront campground called Camp Howard M. Wall.The scouts' flight to Philadelphia was supposed to leave on Friday but got canceled because of the global tech outage. The scouts were told it could be a week before they could get on another flight.Scoutmaster Stacey White said he's relieved that Spirit Airlines was able to add a flight so the group could leave Saturday night. The troop is scheduled to arrive at Philadelphia International Airport early Sunday morning."Very happy," White said. "It's a lot of responsibility having 30-some kids knowing that they're running out of their medications and some of them, when they're out of medications, have withdrawal symptoms — whatever it is, it was not going to be pretty."White said he got a phone call from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, who wanted to make sure the children were OK.

Cranford Police Department's Youth Academy Was a Rousing Success
CRANFORD, NJ – Last week, Cranford Police Department hosted their annual Youth Academy which provides middle-school participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of law enforcement. The Youth Academy offered 40 local Cranford cadets the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and gain valuable life skills along the way. “Our goal is to give these kids a real sense of what it means to be a police officer,” said Detective Ali Muhammad, organizer of this year’s academy. Highlights of the week included the New Jersey State Police’s helicopter presentation and a visit from the U.S. Secret Service. Two Tractor-Trailers Crash and Catch Fire in on NJ Turnpike in Monroe Township
MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–New Jersey State Police, Sgt. Charles Marchan, told MidJersey.news that Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at 12:47 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike North, milepost 73, Monroe, Middlesex County, Saturday July 20, 2024. Based on a preliminary investigation, two tractor-trailers were traveling north when they were involved in a collision. After the collision, one of the tractors began to catch on fire. No injuries were reported on scene. The crash remains under investigation, and there is no additional information available.

IRVINGTON — Five neglected pit bulls were rescued from an abandoned home in the Essex County Township, according to a report by News 12. The Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption in Cranford was first alerted to two dogs left outside the property on July 3.
