SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The 35th annual Price Cutter Charity Championship has reached the halfway point.

15 players were within three strokes of the lead going into today’s action.

KOLR 10’s Chris Pinson was with the golfers and has your second round report.

For the second straight day, Highland Springs Country Club yielded low scores to the morning wave.

Including a former Price Cutter Charity champion.

With mother nature laying out ideal conditions for the second round of the tournament, 2020 champion Max McGreevy took full advantage.

The Sooner alum walked onto the 17th green tied for the lead at -11, thanks to making six birdies and one bogey over his previous 16 holes.

He had this 25-foot putt to take the outright lead, but it just lost speed for a tap in par.

After striping a drive on the par 5, 18th, McGreevy flushed a long iron to the green giving himself a great look at eagle.

However, his eagle putt was a slick downhiller and even with an easy stroke it still ended up just a little outside the leather.

And that was just enough space for him to miss the comeback birdie putt.

Finishing among a host of players in the clubhouse at minus 11.

“Just gave myself a bunch of looks. Made a couple of putts. I’ve just hit a lot of greens and given myslef a bunch of 10-12 footers and luckily have been able to snake a few in. Wish I would’ve got the last one, but it’s alright. Still a solid day. We’ve got two more,” said Max McGreevy, 11 under through two rounds.

Not long after McGreevy turned in his scorecard, 28-year old John VanDerLaan took the outright lead.

Sinking this short birdie putt on 18 to become the first man to get to -12.

John VanDerLaan/-12 through two rounds: “It’s always nice to be at the top of the leaderboard and give them something to look at. I expect I’ll be a couple back going into the weekend but it’s nice to be in contention. I’ve been around the cutline a lot even around the last few weeks. Made the cut on the number when I finished 13th last week, so it’s nice to be up top and we’ll keep playing solid golf and see what happens.”

As for first round leader, Austin Hitt, he was only two shots behind VanDerLaan when he teed off close to 2pm.

Hitt started on number 10 and opened with back to back birdies to quickly become a co-leader but fell down the leaderboard with a double bogey 14.

Reporting from Highland Springs Country Club, Chris Pinson, KOLR 10 sports.

Hhere’s a look at your leaderboard after the second round.

Cooper Dossey leads at 14 under.

Brian Campbell is one stroke back at 13 under.

John VanDerLaan leads a group of seven golfers at 12 under.
