DENVER ( KDVR ) — Two people have been taken into custody after the Douglas County SWAT team served a warrant in a Highlands Ranch neighborhood.

Just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said there was a heavy law enforcement presence on Timbervale Trail in Highlands Ranch. The area is in the Westridge neighborhood.

Deputies said the investigation was contained to one house.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office told FOX31 they were conducting a warrant, and the surrounding community was safe. However, deputies asked everyone to avoid the area until the investigation was finished.

FOX31 had a crew on scene where multiple armed SWAT officers were throwing smoke bombs and attempting to gain entrance into the house.

Just before noon, the sheriff’s office told FOX31 that two people were in custody. It is unclear at this time what the warrant was for. At about 12:15 p.m., the agency posted to X that “the subject has been taken into custody on an out-of-county warrant” and said the shelter-in-place had been lifted.

Residents can resume normal neighborhood activities.
