New facility to help youth aging out of foster care is being built in Springfield
A new construction project in Springfield will provide help for young people aging out of the foster care program. The Good Samaritan Boys Ranch is planning to build a 5,000-square-foot facility for office and warehouse space. It will be a place where young adults in the foster care system can access furniture, life skills training and relational support. The idea is to create a home environment that promotes security and well-being, according to the nonprofit.
Leigh’s Lost and Found Digital Extra: Springfield organization performs spay and neuter surgeries
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Animal shelters and rescues across the Ozarks report a considerable influx of dumped and stray kittens. Spaying and neutering always help alleviate the overpopulation of kittens. The Springfield Animal Advocacy Foundation, or SAAF, performs the surgeries Monday through Thursday at its clinic on Washington Avenue off of Division. The operations cost $100 for female cats and $80 for male cats. The clinic also has special spay/neuter days for feral cats, which cost $40.
C-Street advocates hold brainstorming session for Jefferson Avenue Footbridge reopening
The session was originally set to happen at the Footbridge Pavilion but was moved to Historic Firehouse No. 2 due to heat. There, members of the public shared their ideas for the footbridge’s opening celebration, set for Spring 2026, as well as ongoing programming and improvements in the surrounding RailYards area. Ideas ranged from bringing in local bands to installing bathrooms to structuring the celebration across multiple weekends.

Forsyth Hires New City Administrator
According to a letter posted on Facebook by Forsyth Mayor Missi Hesketh, Jim Viebrock assumed the City Administrator's position on July 8. Viebrock has served in government before, serving Greene County as Presiding Commissioner and also spending time in the State House of Representatives. Hesketh states in the letter that Viebrock will spend the early part of his tenure focusing on supervising the city's Finance Department, which is currently in search of a new full-time director.
